Spiritual mind

March 20, 2021 (Bible Devotional)

Let the mind be in you. What a powerful promise. God is ready to empower us to have victory over sin and death. And all we have to do is to let his mind be in us. To everyone, God is offering the mind of Christ. This offer is not only available to Christians but all. We should not make the mistake to believe that salvation only affects the life of the believers. All of us are alive here by the grace of God. It is the bloodshed on Calvary that fuels our lives. The food that nourishes us and the water we drink are a result of the blessing of the one who died to save humanity.

Without the power of Christ, we would not exist. He is the one who upholds all things. The moon, sun, and stars do not continue their course in their strength. The universe does not have a self-propel motor. All things, visible and invisible benefits from Christ. When we accept Christ, we can experience life more abundantly. If we believe in the one who died for us and know Him, then we would have eternal life. Yet, even if we completely reject him, he does cut us up from the earth. He still loves us. Morning by morning, he showers us with his blessing.

We are carnal sold under sin, but we do not have to stay that way. We can let this mind be in us, even the mind of Jesus. What a blessing! Jesus, the creator, and redeemer is equal with God. Yet, he lowers himself and becomes obedient even to death. The one who makes all things pours himself completely as a gift to the human race. He refuses to cherish selfishness. He gives up his glory to mingle with sinners. And he promises to render all his realm as an inheritance to all who believe in Him. This is the mind that we need to inherit, even the mind of selfless love.

The passage did not say that we should strive to have this mind. No, it did not say that. Paul tells us plainly what we need to do if we want this mind. We simply have to let it be in us. The mind of Christ is offered to us as a gift. It is Christ who will work in do both to will and to do of his good pleasure. If we do not yet possess the mind of Christ is because of our refusal. The carnal mind will is at war against the mind of Christ. But, if we are willing, we can have the mind of Christ. Stop resisting, let Christ do his work in us. Let us let his mind be in us.

Do you have the mind of Christ?

The Prayer — Heavenly Father, we accept the mind of Christ. Let it be in us. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
