Despite this there are a few common points people make against Net Neutrality. Sometimes allowing certain groups to have priority bandwidth is a good thing. For example, it may be a good thing to allow a hospital to have special bandwidth privileges but not allow a popular music streaming service the same privileges without charging them. Another opposing argument comes from a fair free market prospective. If a certain content creator such as YouTube uses a huge amount of bandwidth that ends up costing an ISP more money isn’t it only fair that that ISP finds a way to make up for lost profit? Lastly, allowing a government or ISP to censor what it deems is necessary and grab personal information on individuals that are potentially a threat could make the world a better place. In theory it would allow terrorists and enemies of the state to be stopped before they can do any harm, although this added safety comes at the costs of every internet user’s privacy.
