Stop hating by drinking a Coke?

Last week came the news of the decision taken by the American beverage giant, Coca Cola, which for at least a month will suspend its advertising investments on Facebook and other social platforms linked to Zuckerberg.

Reason? FB does not do enough to obscure the racist content that circulates on its platforms.

And as done by Coca Cola, Microsoft has also announced the same type of measure.

This fact creates a precedent that could have important consequences for the future.

Has new dawn come for communication on social networks, without content that incites hatred, conflict of race or gender, violence and stalking through the media?

Could the power of money and business change bad habits of communication behind a keyboard?

Two things are certain:

1️⃣ FB’s guilt on this matter is certified since it would probably be enough to set the algorithm better to boycott a certain type of content;

2️⃣ Companies, starting from the largest ones — that invest huge resources in inclusive, respectful and politically correct communication — could, in the long run, impose a decisive change of register of content on social networks, not only in the proclamations but also in the facts.
