Importance of Design

Jobs such as being a doctor or lawyer are extremely important to society. These are the people that went to school for years to know what they do like the back of their hand. These are the people that study hundreds of laws and memorize all the parts of the body.

But what about designers and artists?

They’re just as important as doctors and lawyers. Maybe not the same exact level, but pretty close. What designers, do is in the name. They design. Practically everything. Company logos, phone cases, cereal boxes, cars, movie posters. Anything you can think of, a designer came up with the idea for it. The way it looks in terms of functionality and being aesthetically visually pleasing.

Just like any other job or field of study, the projects and workload become easier to do when more research is done. In design, finding out what the user likes and dislikes is part of that research. Finding out what is visually appealing and attracts viewers is essential to design.

Research helps designers on what currently matters the most. By finding out the trends and what is popular to gain attention. There are different types of research that can be done; user-centered and human-centered. User-centered design research is focused on the user, specific to a certain group. Human-centered design research is focused on the general public so it can be for everybody.

By knowing the difference between the two and knowing when to apply which is essential to working on projects and those projects being successful. By understanding design and how to apply those aspects.

Research and design are interlinked, they go hand in hand. For a design to be successful, research has to be done to find out what the users and clients alike.
