Reinventing yourself

Reinventing yourself or your business is probably the hardest thing out there.

And we tend to do it only once things stopped working. Once its already too late.

Once our revenues went down. Once our readership decreased. Or when there’s a new competitor on the block who does the exact same thing we do but for a fraction of the cost.

Once we’re running out of cash. Or once we’ve lost our jobs. Or when we’ve experience something tragic in our lives.

That’s what makes it so hard. Because we tend to start when it’s already too late. When there’s too much pressure and too little time. When the shit already hit the fan.

So instead of saving resources for bad times, try to use those resources to make sure you’re getting used to reinventing yourself. Or your business. All the time. To innovate. And to stay creative.

I know it’s tough. Trying to do something new while the old stuff still works always feels like wasting a lot of resources. It feels like wasting all of your energy on something that seems to be going nowhere. Especially in the beginning.

But you know what’s even tougher than this?

It’s having to go out of business. Or losing your job and not having any marketable skills that are relevant outside your current company.

So try to make sure that when a crisis hits and everybody else is panicking and stuck in their old ways of thinking and doing things, that you’ll be the one who’ll be able to strive through mastery.

Through mastery of reinvention..
