With over 1 million forum posts and thousands more in other content, the website is rich with information that can educate pilots of all ages and experience. To do this, better content engagement must be established. Answering questions like which specific topics appeal most to the readers or what are the most searched about keywords can guide content creators in what to write next. This initiative alone can help administrators deliver a better platform to pilots.

Subscription Pricing Management and Membership Expansion
As mentioned above, COPA is one of the most successful aircraft type clubs in the market with at least 70% of all Cirrus owners as its members. It’s a nonprofit corporation that generates revenue mostly from membership subscriptions. With the review, evaluation, and restructuring of the current pricing scheme, COPA can potentially attract the remaining 30% Cirrus pilot owners as well as other enthusiasts. COPA can leverage on building more premium content on top of the engaging ones. This will allow COPA to be a more sustainable organization in the long run.

Aviation Accident Analysis
Coming into a full circle with general aviation, it is also interesting to leverage on analyzing the narrative events leading to the use of the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) during emergencies. Stories posted on the website about the successful and unsuccessful deployment of CAPS can help the GA industry in general to make more informed regulatory decisions and policies that improve safety. This is what’s the primary reason to which COPA was built for — an avenue for pilots to share safety-related information among peers on top of sharing their personal experiences while using the aircraft.

While these ideas are crude on the first look, they provide a baseline idea as to how we can leverage the rich data available with COPA and the GA space in general. It allows us to better understand pilots, their activities, and aviation — an initiative that can help make flying safer in the years to come.
