Installing Drupal 8 on Reclaim Hosting

Make a subdomain. A subdomain is like a separate folder on your Web server. Put a site in a subdomain to keep it separate from everything else.

Go back to cPanel home. Add an application.

Choose Drupal and click Install. Put your site into the subdomain you created. Leave the directory empty:

Enter a username and password for user 1, your main admin user. Enter the email address you want update notifications sent to. Add the title of your site.

Click the install button. The installation program will run in the background. It would take a while, maybe 15 minutes or so. You’ll get an email when it’s done. Also, you can go the My Apps…

… and your Drupal installation will be listed.

Go to your Web site:

Check to make sure you can install modules and themes. Click on Extend in the main menu. You’ll see something like this:

There should be an “Install new module” button, but, in the screenshot, there isn’t. Don’t panic. In the Core section (you can see it on the screenshot), scroll down until you find Update Manager.

Turn it on, and click Install (at the bottom of the page). Here’s what I saw when I did that:

The first thing to do when Drupal doesn’t work the way you expect is to clear its caches. Go to Configuration | Performance, and click the button:

It could take a while, but you’ll get a message that the caches have been cleared. Go back to Extend. You should see a button for installing modules:

Hooray! You’re ready to go.
