Two Things That Annoy Me Are Paying to Pee and Long Stories

Warning: A rant

I don’t know which is worse. Really.

But the bathroom sign led her to a pay-to-pee toilet. I guess life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness doesn't also apply to our bladders.

Call me a Story Snob, but I believe a worse scenario might be reading an eight, nine, or ten-minute story if it isn’t a well-crafted story.

Seriously, 10 minutes? This can seem like an eternity for an online story. A tennis match.

And it’s simply Badform.

When people sit down to read a story, I think we all have five minutes as the ideal reading length for how long we’re willing to commit to a story, given the time constraints we all have.

Psychologically, I can wrap my head around five or six minutes … but I’m just saying eight to ten minutes feels like it’s a looooonng story.

Eight feels like a writer could take a word whacker to trim a few parts of their story.

I assume most writers realize that people can click away from a story at any moment, and there are plenty of moments to do so in an eight to ten-minute story that starts to drag.
