On Healing

Healing does not have a deadline.

Healing does not have a deadline.

It is not up to anyone to set it for the one who has been hurt. It is a journey, and journeys have destinations, not deadlines.

In healing, there is only black and white. You heal or you do not. There is no halfway through. There are no grey zones. There are no may-be’s.

Healing has no deadline, let me remind you.

So, don’t beat yourself up for taking your time. Don’t give into someone else’s self pity and cut short your journey.

Your healing is at your disposal. It belongs to you just as much as your wounds and scars do. Only you get to direct it.

And finally, when it asks you to succumb to it, do so with discretion, so that you do not have to travel with it again any time soon.
